Neus to hand out 44,000 exercise books

-

Social activist Maisha Neus recently launched her school exercise book project. The project is aimed at donating exercise books to students so that they can go to school in the new school year. Neus had received 44,000 exercise books from Prodimex and will distribute them among children’s homes and the less fortunate. Neus will reportedly receive a list from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing (Sozavo). The list contains the names of 40 children’s homes and the number of children that are being given shelter at those homes. Students from the primary school reportedly need 15 exercise books and the ones who attend classes at the secondary education junior level (Mulo) schools need 22. Neus will make sure that all of the children at the children’s homes receive a package of exercise books. She will also hand out exercise books in the districts Nickerie, Saramacca, Brokopondo and Marowijne. The villagers from Klaaskreek have also informed Neus that the children in the village also need school supplies. Neus pointed out that several children who attend classes at the Debipersadschool in the Saramacca District will receive complete school parcels. She was given SRD 2,500 by a man and his sister. The siblings asked Neus to use the money to finance the school parcels for the children at the Debipersadschool. Neus announced that she and the FAT-S Bar will hold a fundraiser so that they can gather funds to buy school uniforms for the children at Nos Kasita Children’s Home and Stichting Mijnzorg. If there is some money left, it will also be used to buy more school supplies for the children who are enrolled at the Debipersadschool. Neus made it clear that people who need exercise books can contact her. “Prodimex has donated enough exercise books which is why many students can receive help.” Entrepreneurs who wish to make a donation can also contact Neus.
