He is currently recovering at the hospital. The man’s wife told Times of Suriname that they were sleeping when they suddenly heard some noise. When he went to the living room, 4 robbers attacked him. The perpetrators who wore masks and who were heavily armed hit the man of the house and also kicked him in his stomach before dragging him to the bedroom. The robbers then told the man’s wife to get on the floor and to put a pillow over her head. One of the perpetrators then pressed a gun against her head and asked where the money and jewels were. The woman claimed that they did not have any but the robbers kept demanding valuables while they ransacked the room. In the meantime the alarm kept blaring. The robbers then told the man that they would hurt his wife if he did not hand over valuables. The man then told them that he had some money in his car. One of the robbers then went to the garage to collect the money. He told is accomplices that he only found a SRD 50 bill. The couple pointed out that there was in fact SRD 150 in total in their car and that the robber had lied to his colleagues. The woman pointed out that she and her husband have lived in their house for 40 years and that this was the first time that they were robbed in their own home. Security guards from the security firm that had installed the alarm system arrived at the scene after the robbers had already fled the scene.
