InselAir still is not allowed to fly to Suriname yet. The Curaoao airline has no permission from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Suriname Casas . The air line had indicated in a press release that it would restart flights to and from Surina me on November 2 .

InselAir has filed a petition with Casas, but it has not yet been completed. Among other things, the Suriname Aviation Authority must checked whether InselAir meets all requiremen­ts. Only after a thorough in spection process, the Cu raoao airline may receive its permit to operate these flights again, said Casas. InselAir also has to pay its bills and address its techni cal shortcomin­gs.

Insel Air still has to pay Aviation Management and Airport Management. /ast week In selAir met with these credi tors to discuss how it would settle its debts.

Blokland pointed out that the issue of the passengers who were left stranded af ter InselAir had cancelled its flights must also be ad dressed. It is not clear how many passengers were af fected. Surinamese offi cials have made it clear to InselAir that the passengers must be given compensa tion.

InselAir has to address many issues before Casas will grant the airline its )oreign Operator Approval documents. These docu ments are mandatory for every airline that wants to carry out commercial flights to various destinatio­ns. Ca sas has reportedly detected several technical shortcom ings at InselAir.
