NDP MPs demand solutions

-

The NDP faction in Parliament strongly criticized the government last week. Several legislators from the government faction went straight to the point in their speeches and criticized the government for the delay in structural solutions to a range of problems. MP Silvana Afonsoewa, MP Aida Nading, MP Amzad Abdoel and MP Wendel Asadang on Friday vehemently criticized the government for its inaction. During previous sessions other MPs from the NDP faction namely MP Rashied Doekhie and MP Andre Misiekaba tapped the government on the shoulders and demanded answers in a series of alleged embezzlement cases. The comments from the opposition were overshadowed by the ‘attacks’ from the NDP faction. MP Nading who is a resident from the Sipaliwini District vehemently criticized the government for failing to keep its promises. The legislator had presented clear problems to parliament but no solutions were presented. MP Nading therefore urged the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Natural Resources to address the problems. She pointed out that there are constantly price hikes, expired food products and broken down generators. She also complained about the pontoons that pollute the rivers. “There is also very limited healthcare in the hinterland. When will the government deploy doctors in the hinterland in order to upgrade healthcare? MP Nading made it clear to Health Minister Patrick Pengel that there is a shortage of medicines, beds and mattresses at local healthcare centers in the hinterland. MP Nading received the full support from the other members of her faction.
