Holly Holm gets 3 months following loss to Cyborg

-

USA - Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm left her UFC 219 title bout with a nasty shiner and a three-month suspension.

MMAjunkie today obtained the list of medical suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which oversaw Saturday’s event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Main card bouts aired live on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. In the headliner, Holm (11-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) was battered by women’s featherweight champ Cris Cyborg (18-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) over five rounds en route to a unanimous-decision loss. Cyborg didn’t receive a medical suspension. It’s still unclear who will be the next woman to try to take the UFC featherweight championship away from Cris Cyborg, but the Brazilian star believes one of the options is an easier matchup compared to her recent foe.

Cyborg defended the 145-pound title with a unanimous decision victory over Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 219 in Las Vegas, Nev, on Dec. 30. She said she’s open to facing UFC bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes or former Invicta FC featherweight champion Megan Anderson next, but told her team moments after defeating Holm that her fellow Brazilian is not as tough as “The Preacher’s Daughter.” “I won’t say no to the fight [against Nunes],” Cyborg told her coaches Jason Parillo and Tito Ortiz, as shown in the “UFC 219: The Thrill and the Agony” video. “I’d say I wouldn’t like it because we are both Brazilians. But if she wants to fight me and the UFC wants…”
