A member of a gang of robbers was gunned down in Sunny 3oint. 0embers of the Regional Support Team RBT 0idden tried to apprehend the suspect but he refused to surrender.

The suspect drove into a yard and ran over a few people before jumping out of the car and fleeing on foot. The officers of the special police unit fired several warning shots but the suspect refused to comply. He was then shot in the back. :hen the ambulance arrived, the medics concluded that the suspect had died. The suspect’s body was then taken to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. ,nvestigators believe that the suspect was the leader of a gang of robbers. The officers of RBT0idden on Saturday arrested 3 men who confessed to having committed an armed robbery in the gold mining fields. After their arrest, they gave the police the names of two accomplices. The suspect who was shot was one of the accomplices. One of the 3 suspects reportedly has a damaged eye which is why the victims recognized him even though he wore a ski mask during the robbery. The suspect with the damaged reportedly lived at Brownsweg which is also why many people knew him. Another suspect worked for the victim who was robbed. ,t is suspected that he had tipped off the gang of robbers. Sources told Times of Suriname that the police officers from the special police unit also arrested the driver of a car who seemed very interested to know what was going on. The driver was taken to the police station for Tuestioning. His car and the dead suspect’s car were reportedly impounded.
