The workers reportedly received their wages over 0arch on April 11. There are residents at this retirement home. 1 of them were placed at Albertine by Sozavo. The costs for each resident vary between SRD 1, 00 and SRD 2, 00 dependening on the care that the resident reTuires. The situation at Huize Albertine is alarming because this retirement home reportedly lacks sufficient funds. The money that the retirement manages to scrape together is also spent on the care of those 1 residents from Sozavo who urgently needed a place to stay when they were brought to Albertine. 2ne of the workers criticized Sozavo for failing to pay the bills on time. “I can’t believe that a ministry puts senior citizens at a retirement home and then fails to pay the bills on time. The ministry in fact wants the retirement home to take care of them and to give them a room free of charge.´ Last week the 0inister of Social Affairs and Housing (Sozavo Christien 3olak indicated that she was aware of the delay in payments to Huize Albertine and explained that the retirement home should do a better job at doing its homework in order to stay afloat. The workers at Albertine were shocked by this statement especially given the fact that the financial problems are also the result of the delay in payments.
