-

A thirty-six-year-old Guyanese cosmetologist was brutally murdered last weekend in front of her two small children in Barbados where she plied her trade at her salon which is located at Lot 41 Mandela Mall, Swan Street.

The dead woman, who hails from Barcelona Berbice, has been identified as Onica King. The woman is said to have been living in Barbados for several years and is said to have been married to a Barbadian national, who is currently on the run. According to information, the incident occurred on the day in question, the suspect who is believed to be King’s Barbadian husband went to her place of work. The two then got into a heated argument and King began to call for help. When persons ran to the screaming woman they found her on the floor in her salon with blood gushing from wounds to her neck and upper body. King was still wearing her work apron. In a video posted on Facebook, King can be observed struggling to breathe while some of her co-workers were trying to save her life. She passed away by the time the ambulance arrived on the scene. Also in the video, two weeping children can be seen watching the mortally wounded woman.

By that time the suspect had already exited the salon. Barbados Police Official in a statement said that an active investigation is ongoing into the murder of King of Lead Vale, Christ Church. The police are asking for the public’s assistance in apprehending the suspect whose identity has not been verified. King is the second Guyanese woman to be killed in just under a month by men they had close relations with. Recently, a former Captain of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Orwain Sandy, shot and killed his reputed wife in Alexander Village Georgetown, after the two had a heated argument in his car. An autopsy revealed that Reona Payne was shot multiple times. (Kaieteurnews)
