8S Former 3resident *eorge H: %ush is in inten sive care, a day after a funeral was held for his wife, %arbara %ush, CNN has learned. %ush, , was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital Sunday morning after con tracting an infection that spread to his blood, family spokesman -im Mc*rath said in a statement.

³He is responding to treat ments and appears to be re covering. :e will issue ad ditional updates as events warrant,” said Mc*rath. $ccording to a source close to the former 5epublican 3resident, %ush was admitted to the hospital with an infec tion that led to sepsis, which can be life threatening. He was in critical condition, the source said.

The source added that %ush’s blood pressure kept drop ping and a couple of times there was serious concern about whether he was going to come through, but that he had been stabili]ed.

%ut with %ush’s age, his health and with this infec tion, this is very serious, the source explained.

%ush revealed several years ago he suffers from a form of 3arkinson’s disease, which has left him unable to walk, so he gets around either in a wheelchair or a scooter.

The former 3resident’s hos pitali]ation is especially up setting for his family because it follows so closely on the death of his wife of years last Tuesday.
