Policeman found dead in car

-

23-year-old Ravikant Premcharan was found dead in a car that was parked along the Passiebloemstraat. The policeman’s body was taken to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Sources told Times of Suriname that the officer had several stab wounds in his neck and back and that he also had a wound in his side which looked like a gunshot wound.

A relative told Times of Suriname that Premcharan left his house around 1 p.m. on Saturday and that he suddenly could no longer be reached by phone which is why his relatives reported him missing. The policeman who was dressed in a blue t-shirt and blue short pants had left in a car with the license plate PC 23-00. Several police units were instructed to look for this vehicle. The relative explained that they went to the Passiebloemstraat after they had been told that the car was spotted there. The relatives were not allowed to go near the car. The car had also been spotted driving along the Frederikshoopweg on Saturday night. The car was finally spotted again along the Passiebloemstraat. When police officers approached the car, they saw the body. It is suspected that the policeman was kidnapped by several Guyanese before being killed but it is not yet clear. The policeman’s father had received a text message, telling him that he should not call back. The person who sent the text message also accused the victim of having sold weapons. “Buddy don’t call back. Mother f… selling guns to kill my captain.” That is the text message that the victim’s father received. It is not clear if there is a link between the policeman’s death and the deadly pirate attacks. The policeman’s gun was nowhere to be found at the crime scene.
