7error suspect R$ who is on trial along with his brother 1I was reportedly the brains behind the operation of IS in Suriname. 7he police came to this conclusion in the second dossier of the investigat­ion into the activi ties of both suspects. When a policeman took the witness stand on Monday the Mudge asked him to elaborate the conclusion that was men tioned in the second dossier. In the second dossier it is stated that R$ was the con tact of IS in Suriname. Sev eral witness statements also indicated that R$ supported IS. 7he Mudge on Monday referred to the statements of five anonymous witnesses. Witness ; had told the po lice that R$ was looking for people who wanted to Moin IS. R$ told Witness ; how IS was fighting for Mus lims. Witness ; claimed that R$ was trying to recruit Muslims for IS and that he operated on Facebook un der different names. Wit ness ; deemed R$ capable of carrying out an attack in Suriname.

Witness < told the police that R$’s ideas were e[ treme and that he was dead serious. Witness < also claimed that R$ gave an other interpreta­tion to the Islam. Witness $ claimed that R$ had stated that $mericans had to disappear from the face of the (arth. R$ also did some digging to find out how many rooms would be in the $merican embassy building that was under constructi­on. Witness % had told the po lice that R$ had stated that

recruits would be enough for IS in Suriname.

Witness & claimed that R$ had told him that 3resi dent 'esi %outerse and his 7urkish counterpar­t, 7ayyip (rdogan, were deemed as leaders who did not run their countries according to the Islam but with other rules. $ policeman told the court that a man called R1 had left for Syria. It is suspected that he had been recruited by the suspects. 7he sus pects kept denying this. 7he suspects were also planning on recruiting people in the 1etherland­s and %elgium. 7his made it clear that R$ was busy on national and internatio­nal level. 7he -udge on Monday also referred to several chat mes sages that had been sent. R$ claimed that those messages were not sent to people from IS. 7he defense attorneys, Raoul /obo and Murwin 'ubois, on Monday re quested that 1I be released from Mail but the Mudge de nied the request as there are still serious obMections. /obo also asked the Mudge to recuse herself. /obo made this request because he had received informatio­n that indicated that the husband of the Mudge is a )reema son. 7he defense attorney feared for the obMectivit­y of the Mudge because R$ had indicated that the Order of the )reemasons had to be blown up. 7he Mudge also denied the second request.
