“The 0inistry of Public :orks, Transport and Communication O:T C does not sTuander money from the state. If 0ahadewsing can¶t produce the documents, the ministry will eventually take steps regarding this matter,” said Public :orks Patrick Pengel in response to the reports that the Private 5egular Service %us Owners¶ Organization PLO can¶t explain what has happened to S5D 1. million. 0inister Pengel explained that over S5D million in fuel subsidy was wired to the PLO¶s bank account but that an investigation indicated that S5D1. million had vanished. These obscurities disrupt relations between the ministry and the PLO. The chairman of the PLO, 0ahadewsing, still has not reported back to the ministry because he is currently abroad for health reasons. -oyce %lokland, director at the Transport Directorate, pointed out that 0ahadewsing who received medical treatment in Holland for nearly 6 weeks arrived in Suriname on :ednesday. She also pointed out that he will be given more time to schedule his visit the ministry because the ministry is keeping his health in mind. %lokland added that the ministry is waiting for the financial records so that it can become clear where the money went. 5obby %oedhoe on behalf of the PLO told Times of Suriname that the chairman has all the documents and that he can indicate precisely what happened to the money. “There is no reason to make a fuss. The chairman will soon hand in all the documents at the ministry. :e have always been always with the 0inistry of O:T C and will always remain so ”, said %oedhoe.
