Terror suspect denies sending bomb ‘recipes’

Raoul A on Monday denied having sent bomb recipes to another person via chat messages. Raoul A and Nasser I are reportedly on trial on terror charges. AS policeman who took the witness stand told the court that the chat messages from Raoul A indicate that he had sent instructio­ns on how to make bombs.

Judge Cynthia ValsteinMo­ntnor then confronted the defendant with the evidence. The defendant, however, claimed that he never posted the messages. He also claimed that the they could have been messages that were shared meaning that he was not behind them.

A chat message from Raoul A also indicated that the Islamic State (IS) was calling for attacks on the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. The messages also explained how the attacks would be carried out and which groups would be targeted. They also indicated that other attacks would be carried out as diversions. The judge referred to a news article from Brazil dated July 21, 2016 which indicated that 10 arrests weer made for planning terror attacks during the Olympic Games.

Raoul A also denied wanting to send money to Mohammed B who had killed Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh in the Netherland­s. The policeman explained that there is a Group A that provides support to Muslims inmates who are behind bard on terror charges. Defense Attorney Michella Lau-Kerssenber­g, who is representi­ng the defendants with her colleague Murwin Dubois reportedly requested that their clients be granted bail. The defense attorneys are reportedly waiting for the Court of Justice to announce its decision regarding this request. The defendants are due back in court on August 17. The defense attorneys are expected to cross examine the policeman on that day.
