Suspects arrested over shooting incident at ER

-

The brothers Rodney P and Jurgen P on Tuesday night were arrested over the shots that were fired at the Emergency Room of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) on Monday. A woman was also injured with a knife. Officers of the Regional Support Team (RBT) Paramaribo reportedly arrested the suspects at various locations in Paramaribo. Jurgen P allegedly fired the shots while Rodney P drove the getaway vehicle after the shots had been fired. Jurgen P and another man who is still at large reportedly went to the ER on the night in question. Officers from RBT Paramaribo are currently trying to track down the third suspect. The two suspects who are in police custody have reportedly denied any involvement in the shooting/stabbing incident. The knife that was used to injure a woman at the ER has been recovered. The sawed off hunting rifle that was used to fire several shots still has not been found. Reports indicate that the trouble started when three men on Monday night were stabbed at a bar dancing located at the Saramacca Street. Three women and two men reportedly brought the three victims to the ER. Shortly afterwards two men showed up and wanted to go to the victims. The security guards kept them from entering so they went to the people who had brought the victims to the ER. One of the men then stabbed one of the women in the face. The perpetrator and his companion then fled the scene. As they were leaving the premises, one of them fired several shots. Reports indicate that one of the three male victims is a cousin of Jurgen P. The brawl in the bar/dancing reportedly started when the cousin was injured.
