SURINAME DEMANDS APOLOGY FROM 'UTCK MINISTER

Suriname’s Foreign Affairs (Bu]a) Ministry on -uly 1 summoned -aap Frederiks, the temporary chargp d’affaires of the Netherlands. Frederiks was reportedly gi ven a protest note on behalf of the Surinamese government. 7he Surinamese government made it clear in the protest note that Suriname expects 'utch minister of Foreign Affairs, Stef Blok, will soon apologi]e to the people of the Republic of Suriname for the controversial statements he made about Suriname. 7he government of Suriname pointed out that the contro versial statements which Minister Blok made during a meeting of 'utchmen who work at international organi ]ations, is the umpteenth alle gations against the peace and stability in the Republic of Suriname and that it can only be meant to negatively portray Suriname and its people in or der to isolate the Surinamese nation and to possibly carry out a re coloni]ation agenda. 7he Surinamese government also referred to the negative travel advice with regards to Suriname that was re cently issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the .ingdom of the Netherlands. 7he Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Suriname will reportedly in form the international com munity of this matter via its diplomatic channels. 7he Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Suriname concludes that the claim of the .ingdom of the Netherlands that it wants normali]ation of ties is in contrast with the statements made by the mi nister of Foreign Affairs of the .ingdom of the Netherlands and that these statements por tray an unacceptable behavior of intervention and interferen ce in the internal affairs of the Republic of Suriname. “7he government of Suriname will keep rejecting each form of modern coloni]ation while presenting our country as one peaceful nation with the spe cial characteristics of a multi ethnic, religious and cultural society. A harmonious entity that serves as an example to the world with its class room of tolerance. 7his achieve ment is anchored in the con stitution and the Surinamese anthem and will be expressed for all eternity.´
