Education inspectors face growing pressure

-

The nation’s education inspectors reportedly face a growing pressure of work every year. “Every day we get more than 200 students and their parents with requests for dispensation. We can not help everybody and only hand out 200 numbers every day”, said Steve Rudge, Chairman of the Association of Education Inspectors (BIO). Rudge pointed out that the pressure decreases around 2.30 pm as a result of smooth performance. The students often visit Inspection for various things. Some of them request dispensation after they have failed to pass for two consecutive years. “The pressure at Inspection is huge and every year the number of dispensation requests keeps growing,” said Rudge who could not explain the cause of the growing increase in dispensation requests. The biggest challenge that the inspectors face is placing students at the schools. The areas with the highest concentrations are Kwatta, Indira Gandhiweg, Houttuin and La Vigilantia. According to Rudge, many people are also waiting to enroll their children on October 1. When their attempt to enroll their child at a school is futile, they stop looking and visit Inspection to find a spot for their child. People expect Inspection to wave a magic wand in order to find a spot. “Sometimes it is very difficult to find a spot, especially when a student is expelled due to misconduct. That is when it is very difficult to put that child somewhere else.”
