Police confiscate ‘Pokemon’

-

The Anti Narcotics Brigade recently seized a new type of drug called Pokemon. Inspector Amritpersad Tiloe, head of the Anti Narcotics Brigade, on Tuesday told the press that a suspect who was in possession of Pokimon was arrested.

He explained that Pokemon is the liquid form of de Sukru. “We had Sukru in its solid form. Now there is also a liquid form. It is a party drug because people use it in discos,” said Tiloe who added that Pokemon originates from the Netherlands and French Guyana.

The suspect who was arrested told the police that he had bought Pokemon in neighboring French Guyana and that users simply drink it. Investigators believe that the suspect wanted to sell Pokemon to children. The suspect claimed that it was for personal use and explained that he felt happy after having consumed the new drug. “I was happy the entire night.”

Acting Police Commissioner Roberto Prade pointed out that the policy is to determine what leaves Suriname but added that many substances are also smuggled into Suriname and in particular synthetic drugs from the Netherlands. “We all know that the Netherlands is the market leader when it comes to synthetic drugs. We want to see what enters the country. The focus is more on determining what leaves the country,” said Prade who added that Suriname and the Netherlands are collaborating in the fight against synthetic drugs. It remains a challenge to recognize synthetic drugs. “New variants of synthetic drugs keep popping up.”
