Robbers point gun at 11-year-old boy

-

Robbers on Friday night pointed a gun at an 11-yearold boy in his home located in the Wanica District around 9:15. The boy told Times of Suriname that the robbers immediately asked him for money and that he told them that he did not know anything. “I don’t know anything about any money,” said the boy while he was staring down the barrel of a gun. The boy pointed out that his father was out when the robbers showed up. The perpetrators reportedly made off with SRD 9,800; a driver’s license and several receipts. The 6 robbers had wrapped a piece of cloth around their head and wore gloves. One of the robbers was robbed with a hunting rifle. At the time of the robbery 4 children were home. The robbers entered the house via the garage because the garage door was open. When the 17-year-old daughter spotted the intruders, she took a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old child with her to a room and locked the door. She did not manage to take her 11-year-old brother with her. The robbers reportedly tried to kick the door open but failed so they grabbed the 11-year-old boy who was at the car and questioned him at gunpoint. The robbers found a bag which contained money in the car. The boy did not sustain any injuries but currently lives in fear. “Things are getting worse everyday,” the boy’s father said. The man of the house believes that the robbery was committed by people who know him.
