‘D’ Division cops walk against crime, traffic lawlessness
With the recently released crime statistics showing an increase in robberies and numerous fatal accidents, Minister of State Mr. Joseph Harmon, MP and Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. M. Graham DSM were among the large turnout during ‘D’ Division’s walk against crime and traffic lawlessness last Saturday. The march began at Den Amstel and concluded at Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD). Participants included members of churches, the business community, youth groups, schools and community policing groups.
Commander of ‘D’ Division Senior Superintendent E. Cooper, Deputy Commissioner M. Graham and Minister Harmon addressed the gathering.
Participants were encouraged to continue to work together, since there is much to be done within the Division.
Calls were made for team work, as it was highlighted that the police cannot do it alone. The Guyana Police Force recently released statistics showing an increase in robberies with and without violence.
There has been a decrease in murders, rapes and robbery under arms. Fatal accidents also showed a decrease compared to last year, and a number of illegal firearms were seized.
These statistics are in comparison to the same time last year. (Kaieteur News)
