No DNA of suspect found on ‘evidence’

Homicide case

-

The forensics team of the police reportedly did not found any DNA of murder suspect Chawila R on the evidence that had been sent to the lab by investigators. Chawila R and Shaquil B are being suspected of killing Marjorie Willems, manager at KFC. The head of the Forensics DNA Lab on Thursday told the court that the police had sent an ice pick, a hammer and a monkey wrench to the lab. Defense Attorney Maureen Nibte told the court that security footage shows a suspect using the three objects to hit the victim for about 22 minutes. She pointed out that although the suspect held the objects tightly only the DNA of the victim was found. The DNA expert explained that blood contains more DNA material and that blood splatters contain more concentrated DNA than a grip ‘print’. A grip print disappears under the blood. Only the victim’s blood was found on the objects. The prime suspect’s DNA also was not found on the handle of the safe, on the inner side of the door of a storage room and a black backpack. During her investigation, the witness concluded that there was a match without statistical analysis. She explained that this meant that there is a match but that one can’t make an analysis. The DNA expert was questioned at the request of Nibte who deemed the report rather technical. Nibte will refer to the results of the investigation as evidence that clears her client. The trial will be resumed on November 15.
