Prosecution convinced of evidence in sex crime case

-

The Public Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday insisted that there is enough evidence against BD who is being suspected of having assaulted a student of his driving school sexually. The district attorney referred to the statements of the victim and the ones of an independent source. The judge pointed out that the medical report is an independent source. She also pointed out that BD had confessed to taking the girl in a side-road which was outside the route for the driving lessons. After the girl had taken several driving lessons, she informed her parents of what was going on. At the previous trial BD was released from police custody. The district attorney has reportedly demanded that the defendant be sentenced to 10 months in prison and that he be put on probation for no less than 3 years. The defense attorneys, Irvin Kanhai and Arjan Ramlakhan, will address the court on November 28. Kanhai pointed out that the prosecutor must never retrieve evidence from the statement of the witness only. Sex crimes always happen between victim and suspect. He also pointed out that the medical report does not provide any support because only the breasts and the vagina of the girl had been touched. Kanhai also made it clear that the hymen of the girl is still intact. The defendant strongly denied the sexual abuse change. Kanhai also made it clear that there is no consistency in the statement of the young woman. “How consistent is the girl if she never told her parents anything?”
