3rd Chinese Film Festival right around the corner
The third Chinese Film Festival is right around the corner. From November 9 until November 24 cinemagoers can watch several Chinese movies on the big screens in TBL Cinemas. Chinese Ambassador Liu Quan pointed out that 7 Chinese films will be shown with English subtitles. The diplomat pointed out that this is the third consecutive year that the Chinese embassy is organizing the Chinese Film Festival for the Surinamese audience. “The previous film festivals were a success which is why another one is being organized this year,” said the ambassador who added that movies portray the cultural values, the changes of the Chinese nation and its people and that the movies are a popular artistic form. Ambassador Liu pointed out that the 165th anniversary of Chinese immigration was recently celebrated and that it is clear that the Chinese culture has become an integral part of the diversified Surinamese society. He added that he believes that by watching these movies one will get a better understanding of China and the Chinese culture. The various cultural exchanges are aimed at boosting bilateral relations with mutual respect, mutual support and mutual benefits. The Chinese movies will be shown in TBL Cinemas during the weekends. Admission is free of charge. People who want to go to TBL to watch the Chinese movies can pick up free movie tickets at the cinema. The movie Monk Xuan Zang will be shown to guests on November 9. Sun Xia, the wife of the ambassador, pointed out that it will be a special event as the guests will be welcomed in a special way. Sun added that there are movies for everybody at the film festival.
