Repeat offender back in court

-

Maikel V, a man who has been convicted 5 times and who was arrested 8 times for theft and embezzling, on Wednesday appeared in court again. He reportedly denied having committed yet another theft. The repeat offender told the court that he had to give Patrick a.k.a. Petje a ride. He had to wait in the car while Petje got out to run an errand. When Petje returned he had something under his coat. He claimed that Petje opened a door and that he put a music deck on the backseat.

Maikel V thought that something was wrong and suspected the man whom he had known for 18 months of having broken into a home. But he had not seen his new friend committing any crime. Petje then asked him to wait for him and took his bag. He left the music deck on the back seat and other stuff in the trunk of the car. Maikel V claimed that they had not made any plans to steal things which is why left Petje behind. Before driving away, he lit a sticky. But when he drove off, the police came after him. He panicked so he drove faster but lost control over the steering wheel before ending up in a ditch.

He insisted that the stuff in his car belong to Petje. He also told the court that the sticky is most likely still in the car. The judge pointed out that the sticky was not found. District Attorney Mirella van Dijk reminded the man of the fact that he was convicted of theft in 2016.

Maikel V initially claimed that he was arrested 8 years ago. When the DA refreshed his memory, he suddenly remembered everything. The defendant is due back in court on December 12.
