RGD clinic Houttuin reports 20 to 25 flu cases daily

The RGD clinic at Houttuin reportedly gets 20 to 25 flu cases every day. Premdew Lachmon, physician/ head of the clinic at Houttuin and Rayon coordinato­r of the Wanica District, confirmed that s 1 or 2 patients have been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus which is also known as the Mexican flu. Lachman pointed out that every day family doctors get patients who have contracted the flu and who are vomiting, coughing while also having diarrhea, muscle or body aches, a skin rash and infections of the upper respirator­y tract. In most of these cases the doctors do not prescribe any medicines as the patients have contracted a virus. The patients are advised to let the flu run its course. Lachmon explained that there are no medicines against the virus but that there are in fact medicines to deal with the symptoms. The RGD physician pointed out that the flu mainly affects children and senior citizens. Most of the patients are children. Lachmon also pointed out that personal hygiene plays an important role and that people must wash their hands frequently. He also advises people to consult a physician when they have worse symptoms. The patients can make optimal use of the nation’s RGD clinics. The physician also emphasized the importance of using disposable paper tissues when coughing and sneezing to prevent the flu from spreading. “The virus can’t be eradicated but one can take precaution­s to avoid catching it.”
