Street vendors reluctant to move to Neumanpad

-

Not all of the inner city’s street vendors are happy about the DC Mike Nerkust’s decision to move them to Neumanpad. The DC of Paramaribo NorthEast announced that the street vendors will be relocated soon. The street vendors are still hesitant to move to the new location because they think that “nobody will walk all the way to Neumanpad to buy flavored shaved ice or a bag of chips. One of the street vendors pointed out that he has been selling flavored shaved ice along the Maagdenstraat for many years and that sales will plummet if he moves to another location. A chips vendor also complained about having to leave the spot where she has been doing business for many years. DC Nerkust pointed out that the people make lots of money but do not want to give anything back to the State and that “this must become a thing of the past.” If street vendors are caught selling their products without a permit, firm action will be taken against them. Inspectors from the DC’s Office will reportedly shut down the illegal businesses and demolish the stall. The DC also made it clear that the inner city must look its best and that “it is unacceptable to have street vendors selling their products in front of every store.” “These people can’t determine where they want to put up shop or where they do not want to put up shop. Everybody will get a spot along Neumanpad.”
