Juspol and Double Positive foundation initiate joint venture
The Ministry of Justice and Police (Juspol) has entered into a partnership with the Double Positive Foundation. The cooperation means that the foundation will, among other things, provide prisoners in the various prisons with the necessary information about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Lucretia Redan, Director of Operational Services at Juspol, confirmed the cooperation on Tuesday with the signing of an agreement with Ethel Pengel, chairwoman of the foundation. This signing took place at the Ministry of Justice and Police in the presence of Brigitte Bhugwandas, acting deputy director of Forensic Care. Bhugwandas is the driving force behind this collaboration. Redan indicated that cooperation is of great importance, because Juspol believes it is important for detainees to receive sex education. She further indicated that it is of the utmost importance to maintain a healthy lifestyle even as a transgender. The sessions, provided by the foundation, will take place in jails and state prisons nationwide. The ministry has opted to team up with the Double Positive Foundation, because Pengel has been working hard for the past 38 years and is therefore experienced enough to provide the sessions with her team. Pengel is very happy with the signing. The sessions will reportedly start on July the 10th in the Santo Boma State Penitentiary. Redan and Bhugwandas have both indicated that they are looking forward to working together with the foundation.
