Former terror suspect arrested again

-

The Apprehension Team arrested former terror suspect Raoul A around 8 pm on Friday. Defense attorneys Murwin Dubois and Michella Lau-Kerrsenberg told Times of Suriname that their client would most likely be deported. Dubois pointed out that the special police unit did not mention the reason why the man was arrested. He also pointed out that the policemen failed to identify themselves. Raoul A was recently released from jail. He has the Dutch nationality but did not have an illegal status during his detention. After his release he was ordered to report to Immigration Services. Dubois is puzzled by the second arrest of his client because his client had been given the opportunity to get his affairs in order. Raoul’s relatives contacted two police stations but did not get any information. Last week Raoul A was found guilty of being part of a terror organization in the period 2015 to 2017 and breaking the law on Firearms. He was acquitted of preparing and/or promoting acts of terrorism, financing terrorism and recruiting one or multiple people for an armed jihad. Lau-Kerssenberg criticized the authorities for having her client arrested in this manner to be deported. The defense attorneys made it clear that they would spare no efforts in preventing the deportation of their client. Unconfirmed reports indicated that the man was taken to the international airport and put on Friday’s flight to Amsterdam.
