1 voor 12 donates SRD 12,500 to Van Hetten

-

The Foundation 1 For 12 on Wednesday donated SRD 12,500 to Humphrey van Hetten who lost his four grandsons in a house fire on Tuesday. Most of the money that 1 voor 12 handed over to Van Hetten was received from M&N Car Center which reportedly donated SRD 10,000 to the foundation. The foundation contributed the rest from its own funds. In conversation with 1 voor 12, the despondent grandfather of the four victims indicated that it is a difficult period for him. “I have lost four grandchildren, it is terrible. We have lost our house, our clothes, everything. We couldn’t save anything, not even the boys ..... it’s terrible”, said Van Hetten who reportedly hasn’t been able to talk to his daughter about it yet. He explained that his daughter now needs all the peace and quiet she can get. “A psychologist has already spoken to her. She’s too quiet.” His son, who had a close relationship with the boys and was a father to them, has also become quiet.

The death of the four boys has shocked and saddened the whole family. “They had a special bond with these boys,” said the grandfather. Van Hetten’s parental home was a place where the siblings met almost every day. “In one day we lost our history.” Van Hetten pointed out that he relies on God for strength during this difficult period.

Louis Vismale, director of 1 voor 12, has promised Van Hetten to supply the necessary amount of bread every day for the singi neti. With this small gesture he wants to support the family. Vismale appealed to the government to help this family, so that it can again put a roof over their heads. However, Vismale indicated that they will start looking for donors to provide the family with a home. The director of 1 for 12 appealed to the entire public to make a donation, so that the suffering for this family is less severe. Van Hetten thanked the foundation for its support. “It is a good gesture.”
