Man threatened to spread nude photos of ex girlfriend

Judge Duncan Nanhoe on Tuesday gave a suspended prison sentence to Akash M. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months in prison and he was also put on 3 years probation. The sentence was in accordance with the demand of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The prison sentence was deemed mild.

Akash M was found guilty of threatening his girlfriend with revenge porn. He had reportedly threatened to spread her nude photos via social media. The victim told the court that Akash M had already posted one nude picture on Instagram. She managed to delete the picture but does not know how many people have seen it. The victim and the defendant were together for 4 years. While they were together, they often recorded their sexual encounters. After they broke up, the defendant still wanted to have sex with the victim so he threatened to spread her nude pictures if she failed to comply. Out of fear she then agreed to meet him several times. During those meetings he took her to a hotel. The prosecutor told the court that the defendant had hit the victim several times. The defendant had also held the victim’s phone in water. The girl then told two girlfriends what was happening and they advised her to notify the police. The victim provided the pictures and the Whatsapp messages to the police as evidence. Defense attorney Mareen Nibte told the court that her client regretted his actions and that he had adjusted the settings of his Instagram profile so that he and his ex girlfriend were the only ones who could see the nude picture. Nibte pointed out that her client needs counseling and asked the court to mitigate the prosecutor’s demand so that he could go home. Revenge porn or revenge pornography is the distribution of sexually explicit images or video of individuals without their permission. The sexually explicit images or video may be made by a partner of an intimate relationship with the knowledge and consent of the subject, or it may be made without his or her knowledge.
