Gruesome homicide: Prosecutor demands thirty years in prison

-

District Attorney Bibian Tjin Liep Shie on Monday demanded that Raynold G who allegedly killed his ex partner, Monaliza Mijnard, on October 8, 2018 be put behind bars at a state penitentiary for no less than 30 years. “The defendant had repeatedly stated that he would kill the victim, if she ever decided to break up with him. The actions of Raynold G were calculated, cruel and merciless,” said the prosecutor who added that the suspect burnt the victim’s body after he had killed her. “Only a small portion of her body was left. Her family and in particular her son which was fathered by the suspect was deprived of the opportunity to say their final goodbye in a decent manner. The suffering and grief that he has generated and which will linger in the distant future can’t be measured,” said Tjin Liep Shie who added that the case would not have been solved if the suspect had not been spotted on the victim’s moped. After the suspect had been seen riding the victim’s moped, investigators decided to focus their attention on him. The investigators eventually found parts of the victim’s moped on the property of the suspect’s father in the Para District. The suspect then tried to throw them off his scent. After the police had searched the property and the surrounding area in the Para District for more than 3 hours, the suspect finally indicated that he was willing to show them the location of the body. A small portion of the body was found at a remote location in the northern part of Paramaribo. The suspect had allegedly doused the victim’s body with fuel from her moped before setting it on fire. The suspect collected the parts that were not consumed by the fire and threw them in the forest.
