Power China to provide electricity to two villages

-

Natural Resources Minister Sergio Akiemboto on Friday signed an agreement with Power China, a company that specializes in generating renewable energy. The renewable energy project is aimed at providing electricity to two villages namely Pikin Slee and Guyaba 24/7. Minister Akiemboto explained that “other villages will also be included in future energy projects for the hinterland.” The government reportedly aims at providing electricity to the entire hinterland 24/7. “These two villages will not be the last,” said Minister Akiemboto who added that the government wants to boost progress in the hinterland and that providing electricity 24/7 is just the first step. Power China has been hired to establish a hybrid system aimed at generating solar energy for Pikin Slee and Guyaba. The minister pointed out that the company will make sure that the system is up-andrunning in December 2019. “They work very decisively. They do their own purchases and their financing. Their prices are reasonable,” said the minister who added that the government used a soft loan from China to finance the project. Chinese ambassador Liu Quan urged the representatives of Power China to deliver good quality work in Suriname. “The company is the best in China when it comes to putting up solar energy systems. I am strongly convinced that you will deliver quality,” said Ambassador Liu Quan.
