First batch of frozen bitter gourd exported

-

A Mataw Impex on Tuesday exported its first batch of processed and frozen bitter gourd to the Netherlands. The export company sent this shipment of frozen bitter gourd in response to the growing demand for this product after the export ban of the European Union went into effect. Thanks to the export company the Surinamese comminity in the European Union will still get to taste and enjoy Surinamese bitter gourd. The first batch comes from Mataw’s private garden. The entrepreneur plants bitter gourd in a biological manner. His agrarian field covers 1.5 hectares. Adjay Mataw, owner and general manager of this export company, ponted out that since August he has been busy preparing to export processed and frozen bitter gourd. He has had this business plan for several years. The entrepreneur will also export other vegetables soon.”This product will also become available on the local market soon because the Surinamese people are also entitled to healthy cultivated products.” The unusable contents of the bitter gourd is removed before the bitter gourd is washed, inspected and cut by a special machine. The bitter gourd is then spread out and dried for a certain amount of time before being put in special bags which are then put in a foam boxes. The foam boxes is then taken to a special room for a quick freeze. Each foam box contains 42 bags of bitter gourd. The foam boxes are then taken to the Johan Adolf Pengel (JAP) International Airport before being flown to Amsterdam. Agriculture, Stockbreeding and Fisheries Minister Rabin Parmessar applauded Mataw’s initiative and urged others to also be innovative.
