-

A store owner last week shot a robber. The robber who was mortally wounded died in the vicinity of the store. Reports indicate that two armed robbers had targeted the store located along the Tout Lui Fautkanaalweg. The second robber managed to flee the scene. Security footage shows the perpetrators entering the store and cleaning out the cash register. The woman who ran the store was hit on her head after the robbers had broken into the store. The store owner who lives on the same address had a visitor when the robbery took place. Reports indicate that the store owner’s nephew who was paying a short visit heard the woman yelling and screaming before running to the store to investigate. When the robbers spotted the nephew, they immediately opened fire. The nephew suffered a gunshot wound in his right arm before running back to his uncle’s house. The store owner who then appeared with a hunting rifle in his hands, aimed the weapon and opened fire. The robbers then ran outside. One of the robbers collapsed on the street after being shot.

When the police arrived, they seized the hunting rifle pending the investigation. The store owner reportedly has a gun permit. The dead robber’s body has been taken to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. The bullet reportedly went clean through his throat. The police also seized the dead robber’s gun and bullets.
