Man denies any involvement in deadly stabbing

A man who has been arrested denies being involved in a deadly stabbing that took place in Paramaribo. The suspect was in the company of a man who allegedly stabbed 26-year-old Laurens K with a sharp object on Friday night. Laurens K who died at the scene of the crime had reportedly snatched a gold necklace. It is suspected that the suspect had dragged the victim before the victim was stabbed to death. It all started when two men were fighting at the corner of the Watrakanoestraat and the Floralaan. Laurens K most likely snatched the necklace of one of these men. The men then stopped fighting and turned their attention towards Laurens K. The man whose necklace had been snatched from his neck stabbed Laurens K in his chest with a sharp object before fleeing the scene on foot. The other suspect went to the police station to surrender himself. The stolen necklace has not been recovered yet.
