43 active COVID-19 cases and counting……

-

“The number of COVID19 cases on Tuesday jumped to 53 which means that there are 43 active cases that are receiving medical treatment,” said Health Minister Antoine Elias at Tuesday’s press conference of the National COVID19 Management Team (NC19MT). “The number keeps rising. Within several hours we could have more cases on our hands. Everyday hundreds of people are tested and a growing number of people are testing positive for the virus. Everybody who has tested positive so far has been admitted to the hospital. Some of these people are at the Intensive Care Unit while others are getting the necessary medical treatment,” said Minister Elias. Four of the new COVID19 cases are currently at the ICU of the RKZ while three at the ICU of the Wanica

Hospital. The Health minister explained that the contact tracing of all the confirmed cases is ongoing. “A number of cases were added in a short period and we must find out who these people have come into contact with. We are therefore urging everybody to comply with the health and safety measures and to stay home as much as possible. If you think that you may have come into contact with these people, stay home and monitor your condition,” said Minister Elias who also advised people to keep the number of their family doctor on speed dial and to keep uptodate about all of the measures that are being announced. “It is for your own safety because nobody wants to get sick and all of us must try to contain this virus as much as possible.”
