Banks welcome state retirees
The banks have decided to welcome retirees this week so that they can make withdrawals. Reports indicate that the state retirees received their retirement pay on Monday. The Surinamese Bankers’Association (SBV) explained that there are still retirees who do not have access to the digital options that are being offered by the banks. The banks have therefore decided to welcome this group this week and that they would stick to the COVID-19 measures that are currently in effect. On Tuesday the state retirees whose family names start with A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J could visit their banks. On Thursday the banks will welcome the retirees whose family names start with the letters K, L, M, N and O. On Friday the retirees whose family starts with P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X or Y can go to the banks. The association pointed out that customers of De Surinaamsche Bank (DSB) can go to the local branch located at Maretraite. GODO will provide its services in Paramaribo, Albina and Atjoni aanbieden.
The Volkskredietbank will be open on June 16, 18 and 19 in Paramaribo, Nickerie, Tamanredjo, Coronie and Saramacca from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The banks are closed on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The SBV made it clear that customers must identify themselves with an ID card when they want to make withdrawals. The bank receipt is also a permission note in case the police ask these people why they are on the street instead of home.
