Huge turnout at COVID-19 drive through testing sites

-

“There is a huge interest in the COVID-19 drive through and walk through testing sites that are located in the red zones,” said Radjesh Ori, the epidemiologist at the Public Health Bureau (BOG) who is tasked with the coordination of this project. The testing sites were set up at Lelydorp, Koewarasan and Rijsdijk. “There is a huge turnout as many people want to get tested. We are asking the people to call first to make an appointment because we do not want a huge crowd at the testing sites. Many people claim that they have symptoms and that they want to know for sure if they have COVID-19. When they arrive at the testing site, they are screened first to determine if there is a valid reason to carry out the test. The privacy of the people is guaranteed at each testing site,” said Ori. The tests are sent to the lab and the results are in the next day. The people receive a call to inform them of the result of the test. If they have tested positive for COVID19, officials make contact with them to discuss their treatment. Officials will reportedly evaluate this 3-day project to determine if they must continue with it. On Tuesday there were 319 confirmed COVID19 cases. 178 cases are active. Meanwhile a 9th person has died after being infected with the novel coronavirus. 132 people have been cured while 385 are currently in quarantine.
