“Their homes must be suitable for home quarantine”

-

“People from low risk countries who arrive back in Suriname on repatriation flights will no longer have to stay in state quarantine for 14 days,” said Doctor Soeradj Harkisoen on Wednesday. Doctor Harkisoen explained that the flexible exemption only applies to people who come from countries where there is a significant decrease in the number of COVID-19 infections. Holland is one of the countries where the number of COVID-19 cases is dropping. “Meanwhile we know more about the novel coronavirus. As it turns out most people start to show symptoms after three to seven days. So this period is the best time for medical workers to monitor these people. If they do not have any symptoms after 7 days, they could spend the rest of their quarantine at home,” said the doctor who added that this could happen under one condition. “Their homes must be suitable for home quarantine. The mandatory state quarantine still applies to people who return from high risk countries such as neighboring Brazil.”
