RGD al­so in­tro­du­ces CO­VID-19 swab spots

The Re­gi­o­na­le Ge­zond­heids­dienst (RGD) on Thurs­day in­tro­du­ced CO­VID-19 swab spots. Thro­at and no­se swabs we­re ta­ken from pe­o­p­le at the RGD cli­nics lo­ca­ted at Gey­ers­vlijt, La­tour, Li­mes­gracht, Meer­zorg and Moen­go. The RGD wants to es­ta­blish CO­VID-19 swab spots in all of its ju­ris­dic­ti­ons. Har­riet­te Ne­slo, pu­blic re­la­ti­ons ma­na­ger at the RGD told Ti­mes of Su­ri­na­me that 11 swab spots will be ope­ra­ti­o­nal next Mon­day.

The RGD will ta­ke swabs on a dai­ly ba­sis even on Sun­days and na­ti­o­nal ho­li­days from 9 a.m. un­til noon and from 2 p.m. un­til 5 p.m. The test si­tes of the Pu­blic He­alth Bu­reau (BOG) we­re on­ly ope­ra­ti­o­nal this week. Ne­slo ex­plai­ned that pe­o­p­le with flu or flu li­ke sympt­oms must first call the BOG hot­line at 178. Af­ter being scree­ned the per­son is then re­fer­red to the ne­a­rest swab spot. Each per­son who wants to vi­sit a swab spot of the RGD must wear a sur­gi­cal mask and show his or her ID card. The RGD ur­ges pe­o­p­le who ha­ve swab­bed to stay ho­me whi­le they wait for their re­sults.
