SLM has carried out repatriation flights

-

The national carrier, Surinam Airways (SLM), has carried out several repatriation flights in the past couple of days. “The company flew to Aruba and Curacao on Monday to pick up 45 Surinamese nationals,” said SLM director Radjesh Radjkoemar.

The national carrier also flew on the Mid Atlantic route on Tuesday and Wednesday to pick up Surinamese nationals. The director explained that the flights could be carried out as there are vacant spots at quarantine sites in Suriname. The SLM has also presented itself as a charter company. “This way we can earn some extra money,” said the SLM’s top executive who added that the COVIS-19 crisis has hit airliners hard worldwide. The SLM which has taken austerity measures to stay in business carried out a charter flight to Belem, Brazil. Reports indicate that a group of Brazilians wanted to return to their country. “A charter flight is carried out every week,” said the director who added that charter flights are carried out to Miami on a regular basis.
