Spe­ci­al vi­sa for 65­year­old pe­o­p­le with Su­ri­na­me­se roots

The Fo­reign Af­fairs Mi­ni­stry re­cent­ly an­noun­ced that as of Ju­ly 1 fo­reig­ners with Su­ri­na­me­se roots who ha­ve re­a­ched the age of 65 and who we­re born in Su­ri­na­me but who ha­ve ano­ther na­ti­o­na­li­ty be­si­des the Su­ri­na­me­se na­ti­o­na­li­ty are eli­gi­ble for a spe­ci­al vi­sa.

The spe­ci­al vi­sa ru­le will al­so ap­ply to the hus­band or wi­fe of the pe­o­p­le with Su­ri­na­me­se roots and who wish to tra­vel to Su­ri­na­me to vi­sit re­la­ti­ves or to spend their va­ca­ti­on he­re as tou­rists.

The in­tro­duc­ti­on of the spe­ci­al vi­sa for 65­year­old pe­o­p­le with Su­ri­na­me­se roots is part of the plans ai­med at fa­ci­li­ta­ting Su­ri­na­me­se ex­pats and ma­king it ea­sier for pe­o­p­le to vi­sit Su­ri­na­me. The is­suing of the spe­ci­al vi­sa will al­so ena­ble the Su­ri­na­me­se dias­po­ra to ma­ke a sig­ni­fi­cant con­tri­bu­ti­on to the sustai­na­ble de­vel­op­ment of Su­ri­na­me with their ex­per­ti­se. The is­suing of the spe­ci­al vi­sa had been an­noun­ced by the pre­si­dent of the Re­pu­blic of Su­ri­na­me du­ring his an­nu­al speech.

Pe­o­p­le can ap­ply for a spe­ci­al vi­sa at the ne­a­rest re­pre­sen­ta­ti­ve of the Re­pu­blic of Su­ri­na­me in fo­reign coun­tries and the ap­pli­ca­ti­on must be fi­led 3 days pri­or to the day of de­par­tu­re. The ap­pli­ca­ti­on must ha­ve the fol­lo­wing at­tach­ments: a co­py of the bio pa­ge of the va­lid pas­sport, a co­py of the flight sche­du­le and a co­py of the mar­ria­ge cer­ti­fi­ca­te for the hus­band/ wi­fe who was not born in Su­ri­na­me. Ap­pli­cants must pay an ad­mi­ni­stra­ti­on fee of € 20 or $ 20.
