Noersalim: “Nothing wrong with appointment of Bouva”

-

A document which has gone viral on social media indicates that MP Melvin Bouva was appointed policy advisor first class at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 15, 2020. Bouva will reportedly receive a salary of SRD 8,094 every month. Interior Affairs Minister Mike Noersalim

explained that every legislator has the right to opt for a job within the state’s work force. “The fact that he was elected as a legislator does not mean that he can’t fill this position. He will not fill two positions and if people check the laws they will not find a single sentence that says that he can’t work at a ministry if he is a legislator.” A document which indicates that Ricardo Panka was assigned to Suriname’s embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 22, 2017 is also being shared on social media. He was tasked with the duties of Chef de Poste from

October 24, 2017 until January 17, 2019 at the embassy. According to the rules, he is still entitled to an ‘allowance’ for the work that he did during that period. This ‘allowance’ must be equal to 10 percent of his then basic salary in foreign currency.
