Current COVID-19 Team to be replaced on July 16
The nation’s current National COVID-19 Management Team will be replaced on July 16 by a new team that will be put together by the new government. The current team and the transitional team are currently holding talks aimed at making sure that the transition goes smoothly. “The new team will mainly focus its attention on good communication with the people, a national approach aimed at securing and guaranteeing healthcare and tackling the threats against the economic policy so that we can gradually establish the new normal in the country,” said Maaltie Sardjoe, member of the transitional team at Friday’s COVID-19 press conference. Sardjoe pointed out that the new team will first look at the fronline before making more investments in it. “The transport, education and the labor sector and the unemployment issue will receive more attention,” said Sardjoe who added that a good infection policy is of the utmost importance in order to determine the course of the new team. “Several things that will be handled differently include the aid to people,” said Sardjoe as she referred to the long lines, chaos and lack of physical distancing when people head to distribution centers to receive aid. “These are the things that we will handle differently.”
