Many candidates for ministerial posts pass AG’s background check

-

Many members of the new team of ministers have already passed the screening of the attorney general. Only the candidates from the National Party Suriname (NPS) must be screened,” said Ronnie Brunswijk, vice presidentelect, on Tuesday at a press conference that was also attended by the other coalition partners. He explained that the attorney still had to screen the candidates from the NPS because he had just recently received their names. Brunswijk pointed out that the candidates from the Progressive Reform Party (VHP), the General Liberation and Development Party (ABOP) and Pertjajah Luhur passed the screening. Chandrikapersad Santokhi, the newly elected president, announced that the first meeting with the new team of ministers could take place this week. The new government will reportedly discuss the future course. NPS chairman Gregory Rusland pointed out that he is happy that steps are actually being taken to bring the government in position so that it can tackle the country’s problems.
