Woman was run over twice

51-year-old Hillery Westerloo who sat behind a moped rider was run over by two cars on Wednesday night. She died at the scene of the accident.

Chief Inspector Humphrey Naarden, head of the Public Relations Office of the Police Force Suriname (KPS), told Times of Suriname that the police receive the call about the accident at 20: 35. The accident reportedly happened on the Coesewijne­straat in the vicinity of the Tyronneweg. When a police unit arrived on the scene Westerloo had already passed away. Naarden explained that the moped rider wanted to go into the Tyronneweg but that he did not give right of way to other vehicles.

Leendert A who was driving his car rammed the moped rider and his passenger. Another driver namely Winston V also rammed the moped rider and his passenger. Leendert A fled the scene but the police managed to track him down. He was under the influence of alcohol so the police arrested him and also seized his driver’s license. The woman is the nation’s 30th road victim in 2020.
