Hooghart: “I haven’t seen any motions”

-

“The chairman can’t be removed from office with a motion. Besides, I haven’t seen any motions,” said Ronald Hooghart chairman of the Central State Employees’ Organizations (CLO), in response to the fact that most of the union officials at the CLO want him to step down. Hooghart made it clear that the people who want to run the CLO must work for it and that they must also be prepared to fight. “I am waiting for them to show their faces. I am prepared to fight,” said the union chairman. Jan Aviankoi and Hooghart’s longtime friend and secretary general at the CLO, Michael Miskin, want somebody else to be charge. Hooghart was shocked to hear that Miskin is also one of the union officials who want him to pack up and leave. He explained that he has often told Miskin that he wants him to be the net chairman of the CLO.

There were already plans to hold new elections within the CLO after the general elections of May 25, 2020. Hooghart suspects that the new board wants to gain favor with the new government. “Aviankoi is advisor of the union movement of the VHP. They want to eat out of the meat pots of the VHP. I have carried out huge projects within the CLO and they are guarding them. Miskin was my best friend.

I had told him that I would start preparing my departure this year. But he obviously could not wait because he believes that he is getting old,” said the CLO chairman. He added that the state employees would receive their raise on October 1 and not on July 1, 2020. The raise has been put on hold by the new administration. Hooghart pointed out that he wants to discuss this issue with President Santokhi.
