Mobile testing sites for COVID19 to pop up again

-

The Public Health Bureau (BOG) is currently busy with the preparations for the redeployment of mobile testing sites in Paramaribo. These mobile testing sites will pop up in residential areas so that people can get tested for COVID19. Epidemiologist Radjesh Ori explained that the mobile testing sites will make it possible to test more people. Ori explained that it is increasingly getting difficult to contain the virus in hot zones throughout Paramaribo.

“We receive reports from everywhere. It is no longer clear if the virus is spreading in the north or the south. One sees the virus leaking to resorts that are nearby. We have also noticed a shift to the Wanica District. If this keeps up, we will have many cases on our hands that we could also have the same situation here like in neighboring French Guiana.” Health officials are currently considering deploying testing sites in the Wanica District.

Ori explained that a growing number of infections are traced back to retail stores, small and big companies. 7,000 COVID tests have been carried out so far.
