Tax Office and Customs are deemed two important engines in the financial household of the State especially in times of financial trouble. “But I am in favor of a friendly policy. The tax payer has duties but also rights,” said Minister Achaibersing. “I am not saying that you are doing a poor job but we must transform the Tax service together. The government must opt for austerity measures but pulling in income is also important. And I want you by my side as my partners. We must be able to cover our operational costs without having to ask the banks for a loan. A project team will supervise things for the next 9 months and you will be part of that team.” The management team which pointed out that it is eager to work with the minister so that the reforms can finally be pushed through invited the minister to visit the Tax Office. The minister will also hold talks with Customs in the next couple of days.
