Government vehicles must be registered at Public Works Ministry

Public Works Minister Riad Nurmohamed is currently searching for vehicles and heavy equipment that are not registered at his ministry. People who are currently in possession of a government vehicle are being urged to have it registered at his ministry within a week. Those who ignore his call will face legal action. Minister Nurmohamed made it clear in a press release that the Ministry of Public Works is the agency where all government vehicles and heavy equipment must be registered. Sources told Times of Suriname that the rules were not followed during the past couple of years. In the past all of the government’s vehicles were purchased by the Repair Shop of the Ministry of Public Works before being insured at Self Reliance. But after a while the various departments bought their own vehicles before having them insured at other local insurance companies.
