Santokhi talks to investors
Companies from Canada, India and neighboring Guyana are willing to make investments in Suriname. This was made clear at a press conference of President Chandrikapersad Santokhi upon his return from Guyana. Talks were held with the Canadian ambassador who is also accredited in Suriname. The Surinamese head of state explained that some of the projects had already been prepared by the previous government. The Canadian private sector is reportedly eager to invest in Suriname. The Canadian government has also put aside $ 250,000 for the technical collaboration program with Suriname. The Indian ambassador also emphasized the good joint venture between Suriname and India. The Indian diplomat pointed out that entrepreneurs from his country are very interested in investing in Suriname. The Guyanese
business community also presented projects and options for joint ventures to the Surinamese head of state. “It is up to our business community to get the ball rolling.”
